Responsibility and sustainable development are among KL-Lämpö’s core values. For us, this means looking after our customers’ best interests, caring for our people and the environment, and acting responsibly as part of society.

Sustainability is not a separate initiative for us. It is part of our leadership, day-to-day decision-making and customer work. We develop our operations systematically, set clear objectives for our work and review progress annually.

KL-Lämpö’s sustainability program is based on our company values and takes into account both the internal and external sustainability impacts of our operations, as well as the needs of our stakeholders. How we implement sustainability and monitor progress

Our sustainability program guides long-term development work throughout the organisation. It brings together concrete objectives, indicators and priorities for our work. Our goals include increasing safety training, maintaining high job satisfaction, achieving zero workplace accidents and chemical incidents, developing circular economy solutions, improving customer satisfaction, and advancing to the EcoVadis Silver level by 2027.

We take sustainability into account throughout our supply chain. In accordance with our operating policy and Code of Ethics, we also require our partners to operate responsibly.

We publish an annual sustainability report that describes how our sustainability work is progressing in practice. The report is prepared in accordance with the EU’s voluntary VSME sustainability reporting standard for non-listed SMEs. It brings together our company’s material ESG information to provide customers and partners with a clear and comparable view of our sustainability performance. The report is currently available in Finnish.

We also monitor the implementation of our sustainability program through people-related indicators. Our job satisfaction survey helps us develop wellbeing at work and competence management.

Sustainability as a customer benefit

For our customers, sustainability is reflected above all in concrete and measurable benefits: better energy efficiency, more reliable operational performance and longer life cycles. At the same time, environmental impact and total lifecycle costs are reduced.

Our sustainability strategy shows how sustainability guides our operations and how we create energy efficiency, reliability and lifecycle durability for our customers.

We help our customers improve their own sustainability through solutions that enhance the energy efficiency, environmental performance and lifecycle durability of heat transfer systems and industrial processes. We offer partnership-based services that combine expert knowledge, water analytics, chemical and equipment solutions, as well as maintenance and optimization services.

The sustainability of our operations also benefits our customers through transparency and supplier management. We provide independent and comparable information on our sustainability performance, helping our customers with their own supplier assessments and sustainability requirements.

Our sustainability work is supported by external assessments, certifications and commitments that increase transparency and continuous improvement in our operations.

EcoVadis

KL-Lämpö has been awarded a Bronze medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment. The assessment covers our social, economic and environmental responsibility. For our customers, EcoVadis brings practical benefits: it provides an independent and internationally recognised evaluation of our sustainability performance and helps simplify supplier assessments.

ISO 9001

Through our ISO 9001-certified quality management system, we systematically improve the quality and reliability of our operations. Quality is a key element of responsible operations, as it is reflected to customers in reliability, consistency and safe operation.

Finnish Work / Key Flag Symbol

We are a member of the Association for Finnish Work and committed to their principles of Responsible Work, which include creating jobs, ensuring responsible production and procurement, and taking care of employees’ competence and wellbeing. The Key Flag Symbol awarded to us indicates Finnish expertise, a service produced in Finland that creates employment in Finland, and a responsible, high-quality way of operating.

We are committed to the Chemical Industry’s Responsible Care program, which supports responsible operations and continuous improvement in line with industry best practices.

Other networks and communities

  • KL-Lämpö has been selected to participate in the Finland Chamber of Commerce Climate Program for 2026.

  • We are part of the Water Ecosystem community, which promotes the quality, efficiency and environmental performance of water utility and industrial water processes.

  • We offer a waste glycol recycling service through our partner. Our activities related to the transfer and transport of waste glycol are subject to the Finnish waste management register, and KL-Lämpö can also be found in the Jätehuoltokompassi online service (jatehuoltokompassi.fi).

  • We fulfil our producer responsibility obligations through Finnish Packaging Recycling Rinki Ltd.
